Crunch time!

I just put up my page for the game jam I created MagnetDroid for

http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/game/view/id/168

I haven’t uploaded the game yet- its ready to go in its current form BUT I want to add a time attack mode as well ^_^ I’m ahead of schedule as I set the nest 2 days aside to create the intro cinematic but I finished it today- so I’ll spend the next 2 days making a new CRAZY level for fun- I won’t do anything that can break the rest of the game AND in case I do I exported the executables for the version I have now- So yeh you’ll get to play it in a few days- hopefully it doesn’t break haha

Game dev meetups are awesome

So I took MagnetDroid to a game dev meetup last night and got some really helpful feedback on the game- watching people play it and try to figure things out is SUPER helpful- the way the game presents itself makes it pretty difficult to understand the mechanics- I already made some changes to the game last night based on feedback I got-

Since I’m a beginner it probably would have been smarter to focus on creating much simpler and smaller games BUT I do what I do haha

Once you understand the main mechanic of magnetism the game isn’t very complex so the challenge for me is to make sure the player understands how it works before going too far-

I’m working on a tutorial type level today- I did my best to do the teaching in game but I should try to do this anyway-

I’m going to take my alpha version of MagnetDroid to a game dev meetup tonight- A week or so ago I took what I had to a different game dev meetup and it really helped me polish the first level of the game- so I hope I get some good feedback on it so I can make it better for future players-
Once I’m finished with that meetup I’ll get back to work on the game- I’ll start on the opening cinematic that aims to setup the scenario and goals for the player so the game doesn’t start and they go “what do I do?!”
I’ll be posting the game for download this Saturday but there’s still lots to do until then- I’ll try to cram as much cool stuff as I can into this first version

Level 02 complete

Just finished the second level of the game BUT since I’m trying to make a deadline of June 30th for a game jam I wasn’t able to add a bossfight or the enemy MagnetDroid drones in that version- OR the enemy base OR the magnetBAD’s that kidnap box babies- I made all that stuff just wasn’t able to fit it in this alpha version- if people like the game and I get some positive feedback I’ll add that stuff in and probably another level or two
